WHO ARE WE?

Families Together is the Parent Training and Information center serving Kansas families who include a son/daughter with disabilities.  

          Parent Centers are funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. 

Parent Training and Information centers (PTIs):

  • serve families of children and young adults from birth to age 22;

  • with all disabilities: physical, mental, learning, emotional, attention deficit disorders...;

  • train and inform parents and professionals to help families obtain appropriate education and services for their children with disabilities;

  • work to improve education results for all children, and resolve problems between families and schools or other agencies;

  • connect children with disabilities to community resources that address their needs.

 OUR HISTORY!

Families Together, Inc. was originally founded in 1982 by Chris Curry, Kansas University special education professor, as an opportunity for families to come together and meet other families who where navigating the special education and disability services maze.

Statewide Staff
Staff is available in each center to help parents gain support and information concerning specific disabilities, special education, financial resources, and understand their rights via phone, or in person.
